What comes in the Deluxe Edition?
The Deluxe Edition has the following Kickstarter Exclusives:
1) Upgraded coins and garbage tokens made from engraved acrylic. These acrylic tokens (28 x $300 coins, 48 x $100 coins, and 32 x Garbage) look great and feel even better in your hands. 2) 8-player mode. 2 extra movement wheels, 2 extra point sliders, and 2 extra sets of upgrade clips. 3) 6 new Action Cards. (Pending Social Media Achievements being unlocked.)
Other than that, the Retail and Deluxe Editions are the same. In designing Rival Restaurants, we wanted each copy of the game—whether “Retail” or “Deluxe”—to look stunning and have the “premium” feeling that’s only really found on Kickstarted games. We wanted to deliver all of our backers the best possible product with head-turning artwork and the highest quality components. We hope you feel that’s true once you finally have our game in your hands.

Can I add additional copies to my pledge and save on shipping?
Yes! For each additional Retail Edition you’d like, simply add $54 to your original pledge ($49 for the game + $5 for additional shipping). For each additional Deluxe Edition you’d like, add $69 to your original pledge ($64 for the game + $5 for additional shipping). This is available to backers in the US, EU, Canada, Australia, China, and “Rest of Asia” (see “Shipping” section). If you are in a country that falls under “Rest of World,” please message us directly so that we can work with you. Please note that the maximum number of games per person/order is 5 and that all additional copies must be going to the same address to qualify for the shipping discount.

What is “customs friendly shipping?”
In short, it means we’ve taken steps to save you money on shipping! If you want the longer description, it means our logistics partners will arrange for the game to be shipped from within your local country or region, thus avoiding import fees and taxes (we pay them on your behalf). This has often been coined the “Stonemaier Method,” allowing us to make our games available in as many countries as possible. “Customs friendly shipping” is available for the United States, European Union, Canada, Australia and China (see “Shipping” for a breakdown of countries).

Is local pick-up available?
Unfortunately, local pick-up is not available. We are partnering with Quartermaster Logistics for fulfillment which means that 1) we don’t get the game in our hands until you do 2) all backers will receive their rewards directly. If you want to save on shipping, we encourage you to team up with your friends and pledge for multiple copies (see FAQ about “additional copies”).

Will you be using a Pledge Manager?
Yes, we will be using BackerKit as our Pledge Manager. You will be able to upgrade your pledge, add additional copies of the game, manage your shipping information and much more. Who is Rival Restaurants for?
Everyone! At Gap Closer Games, our goal is to make games that can “close the gap” between hardcore tabletoppers and casual board gamers. Our hope is that Rival Restaurants will help change the way people think about board games. Our hope is that playing Rival Restaurants will make board game lovers out of people who didn’t even know that they loved board games.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
